Difference Between Promotional SMS and Transactional SMS:
Hurry up! End of season sale starts today, flat 50% off on all products. Have you ever got these types of messages on your mobile phones? Of course, you did! Each and every one of us has gone through the pain of having to delete these messages that we don’t even bother to see. So these messages are known as promotional messages.
Promotional messages are the messages sent by companies to promote or advertise their products or services.
Of course, no one likes these messages so there are ways to avoid them if you don’t want them.
Promotional messages can be blocked by using NDNC or National Do Not Call. TRAI has also imposed a service tax on such SMS. In addition, an extra fine of 5 paise has also been imposed on the same.
There are some messages that are very important to us. Without these messages, we might face a little discomfort. The OTPs, the bank account details, information about the delivery of your product, don’t you think if we do not get these messages then we might face a little inconvenience. So, the above-mentioned messages fall under the category of transactional SMS.
The messages sent for sending important information to the users are called transactional SMSs. The transactional SMS is sent with the intention to help the user to use the service he has availed for, easily and without any discomfort.
Transactional messages do not include any promotion or advertisement and they are only meant to share important information with the user. These messages can also be received by the numbers listed in NDNC list. In the transactional SMS, the sender details feature a format of 6 alphabets.
